Welcome to Allie's Bookshelf
There is something a little magical about a bookshelf.
It isn't just a place to keep books. It's a collection of places we've been, people we've met, lives we've briefly lived, and versions of ourselves we've left tucked between the pages.
And that's exactly what I want The Bookshelf to be.
I've always been a reader, a writer, a collector of stories, and the kind of person who believes that the right book has a funny way of finding you exactly when you need it. Some books become old friends. Some completely wreck us. Some teach us something about the world, and others quietly reveal something about ourselves.
I wanted to create a little corner of the internet for all of that.
Here on The Bookshelf, we'll talk about what I'm reading and what I think you should add to your ever-growing TBR. There will be book reviews and recommendations, favorite quotes and beautiful covers, new releases and forgotten treasures. We'll wander through Southern Gothic, folklore, witchy reads, cozy stories, strange stories, classics, indie authors, and whatever else happens to catch my attention.
But I don't want this to feel like a formal book review site.
I want it to feel like you've wandered into a tiny bookshop on a rainy afternoon and found someone behind the counter who says, "Oh, if you loved that one, you have to read this."
I want to talk about the books we underline.
The ones we stay awake too late reading.
The ones we immediately text our friends about.
The ones we throw across the room.
The ones we finish and then sit quietly for a few minutes because we're not quite ready to leave their world yet.
And because stories have always been tangled up with the rest of my life, I'm sure a little bit of that will find its way here too—writing, folklore, creativity, local stories, beautiful old things, and the occasional wandering thought.
Most of all, I hope The Bookshelf becomes a gathering place for people who simply love stories.
So pull up a chair.
Make yourself something warm to drink.
Ignore the fact that your TBR pile is already completely unreasonable.
There's always room for one more book on the shelf.
Welcome to The Bookshelf. I'm so glad you're here.
